At West Virginia University’s Commencement, life changed direction with a few syllables.
“Move the tassel to the left.”
“So help me God.”
“Will you marry me?”
Most in swishing their tassels opened a door: to a job, to change, to relief. Some agreed to give their lives in service to their country. One agreed to love.
Four thousand adults walked across a stage with smiles, anticipation and solemnity the weekend of May 13-15 in Morgantown. The proud few were commissioned as officers into the U.S. Army or Air Force. And at the Davis College commencement, Melissa Collazo promised to marry her boyfriend Estevan Herrera before a crowd of graduates, parents and friends.
They remembered the struggles, they were justified in their faith and they were confident in their achievement.
Be a part of their triumph, see their smiles and glimpse their love as you watch WVU’s 2011 Commencement sights and sounds video produced by WVU’s University Relations/News.
