Life is different for student-athletes in West Virginia University’s Olympic sports than it is for their compatriots on high-profile teams like football and men’s basketball.

There are no TV cameras recording their every move. There are no crowds of 60,000 cheering them on. Their accomplishments aren’t the subject of radio talk shows.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t big-time athletes and programs with either long-standing or growing traditions. It means however, that these athletes usually find their motivation from within.
