Gene Cilento, Glen H. Hiner Dean of West Virginia University’s College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, announced the winners of the College’s outstanding teachers, researchers and advisors for 2010-2011. The awards were presented at the College’s annual Honors Ceremony, Friday, April 15.

Brian Anderson, assistant professor in chemical engineering, was recognized as the teacher of the year. Also selected as outstanding teachers were Afzel Noore, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Mario Perhinschi, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Arun Ross, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

Larry Banta, from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was selected as this year’s outstanding advisor. Also honored for his advising work was Nithi Sivaneri, from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Professor Marcello Napolitano, from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was chosen as the College’s Outstanding Researcher. Also recognized were Nigel Clark, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Bojan Cukic, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Hota GangaRao, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Tim Menzies, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

New Researcher of the Year honors went to Cerasela Dinu, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Guodong Guo, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.
