The West Virginia University Student Government Association Student Organization of the Year Award is a new and innovative way to get student organizations more involved on campus and to increase awareness of the benefits of becoming a student leader.

WVU Student Organizations Services believe that student organizations are valuable to the WVU community, and the student leaders of these organizations deserve to be recognized for their efforts and commitment to WVU.

“As student body representatives, it is our job to make sure organizations are recognized for their hard work and dedication to WVU and the Morgantown community,” said SGA Board of Governors member Jason Bailey.

The officers of three top finalists must attend an SGA meeting on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Hatfield’s B to explain to the board why they believe they deserve to win the award. The selection of the award will be based on such things as the function of the organization and its growth over the years, community service projects and the positive impact it has had on WVU. For a full list of the criteria, visit http://sos.wvu.edu/sos_forms.

The award was initiated by Bailey and SGA. The winning organization will be awarded a monetary prize, and their named will be placed on a plaque displayed in the Student Organizations Wing, located in the WVU Mountainlair. The winner will be announced and recognized on April 27at the SGA meeting.
