West Virginia University wants to make sure that all students and parents know how to approach the next step after college.

WVU’s Career Services Center, Alumni Association and Mountaineer Parents Club are sponsoring the Spring 2011 Career Seminar on Friday, April 8. The seminar, part of Spring Family Weekend, will be held from 4-6 p.m. at The Erickson Alumni Center.

The focus of the seminar is, “I really am going to graduate – now/then what?” All students and parents are encouraged to attend.

“For students about to enter the job market, the chance to network with alumni is invaluable,” said Sarah Rotruck Glenn, assistant director of Employer Relations at WVU’s Career Services Center. “They provide great insight and advice and are committed to helping fellow Mountaineers succeed after graduation.”

At the interactive seminar, students and parents will have the opportunity to meet successful WVU alumni and staff at WVU’s Career Services Center. They will learn how to network, build a resume and begin a job search, among other things.

“Our future graduates are vital to the ongoing success of the University,” said Tara Curtis, director of communications for the WVU Alumni Association. “This program allows us to provide them with unique opportunities to network with other Mountaineers, and, more importantly, receive ‘real world’ tips and advice on how to handle life during/after college.”

The cost of the seminar, which includes snacks and beverages, is $5 per person.
