The U.S. Census Bureau will release census data this week critical to the state of West Virginia. The West Virginia University College of Business and Economics, Bureau of Business and Economic Research will provide a key understanding of the data and what it means to the state.

Census data will be used by the West Virginia Legislature to draw new district lines for the state’s three seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and district lines for state legislative seats, as well as determine whether West Virginia counties and municipalities gained or lost population during the past decade.

Dr. Christiadi, BBER demographer, will have insight as to the impact of the census information. Dr. Christiadi serves as a liaison with the U.S. Census Bureau with regard to population estimates and projections, and oversees the production of West Virginia population projections. He specializes in urban-regional and labor-demographic economics, with a primary focus on migration.

Media opportunities will be available with Dr. Christiadi after the report from the U.S. Census Bureau is issued, and will include interviews, photos and video.
