The West Virginia University Department of English will host a free public reading by author Michael Czyzniejewski on Monday, April 4.

The reading will take place in the Robinson Reading Room of the Downtown Library at 7:30 p.m. It will be followed by a reception and book signing.

Czyzniejewski, editor-in-chief of Mid-American Review, teaches creative writing and desktop publishing. Czyzniejewski grew up in the Chicago area and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in 1995, before earning a Master of Fine Arts in fiction from Bowling Green State University in 1997. He has worked as an editor for Mid-American Review for 10 years, starting as an assistant editor, working his way to fiction editor, and finally taking over as editor-in-chief in the summer of 2000.

He is author of a book of stories, “Elephants in Our Bedroom” (Dzanc Books, 2009), and numerous stories in literary magazines such as American Literary Review, Quick Fiction, Western Humanities Review, Mississippi Review Web, New Orleans Review, Northwest Review, Another Chicago Magazine, Witness, Lake Effect, StoryQuarterly, The Cream City Review and Bat City Review. He is recipient of a 2010 Literature Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
