The West Virginia University Career Services Center is available on campus for all kinds of career advice for students – and on Friday (March 11) they will be taking students to New York City for the Big East Career Fair.

All WVU students and alumni are welcome to attend the Big East Career Fair, held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to meet with representatives from nearly 100 organizations. WVU Career Services has joined other career centers at Big East schools to offer the event. Participation in the event is exclusive to the17 Big East schools.

This annual event is offered during the Big East basketball tournament and has grown in size each year, offering the career services angle of “March Madness.” Among the organizations that will be at this year’s event are Vonage, Liberty Mutual, ESPN and Madison Square Garden.

Students must register online by Tuesday (March 8) at 5 p.m. or onsite on the day of the event, though online registration is preferred.

Sarah Glenn, assistant director of the Career Services Center, said that this is a great opportunity for students and alumni, especially since the event is exclusive to only 17 schools.

“The fair is hosting nearly 100 companies, and students should take advantage of this and talk to every company, not just the big brand names,” Glenn said. “Students will find that there are big opportunities to grow and learn in smaller companies.”

The Big East Career Consortium was established as a nonprofit entity in January 2008, and sponsored their first event in March 2004.
