West Virginia University wants to make sure that students don’t get into a jam with off-campus housing.

That is why the University’s Student Legal Services will be holding several lease review clinics on campus.

“Leases can be one to 30 pages and can contain a wide variety of provisions,” said Carrie Showalter, attorney for students. “It is important that students understand and agree to the provisions contained in the lease prior to signing it.”

The clinics will be held in the Kanawha Room of the Mountainlair on Monday, Jan. 31 from 1-4 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 3 from 1-4 p.m.; and at the Student Recreation Center on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 1-4 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 2 from 3-6 p.m.

Representatives from Student Legal Services and the Off-Campus Housing office will be on hand to review leases and answer students’ questions.
