Gone are the days of using paper forms, fax machines or visits to the Office of the University Registrar for West Virginia University students and alumni to obtain their official transcripts.

The Office of the University Registrar has gone paperless with an online transcript request and payment system.

Customers can also choose various options of delivery, including overnight shipping. After the order is processed, the system will automatically send an e-mail or text message to notify the person that their order is ready.

WVU Registrar Steve Robinson says the system will be an added convenience to both sides of the transaction. Currently the office produces roughly 5,000 transcripts a month.

“The online system will make a world of difference in the time it takes to process these requests,” Robinson said.

The system will also notify the student or alumnus of any holds on the account before fulfillment of an order. A message will appear with instructions about contacting Student Accounts before going any further.

Both current and former WVU students can access the system through the registrar’s website, where authentication layers will present themselves for security purposes. Current students can also access the system through their MIX account.

“The feedback we’ve received from the current students who have tested it is very positive,” Robinson said. “They’ve told us exactly what we want to hear, which goes more or less like, ‘so you mean we don’t have to make a trip to the office anymore to do this?’ which lets us know that we’ve created a more convenient process for both current and former students.”
