Kick off the holiday season with the annual Winter Lights celebration Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-4, at WVU Jackson’s Mill in Weston. The Mill’s grounds will be adorned with fresh greenery, ribbon, lights and hundreds of candles.

Winter Lights

The activities start with a Friday evening buffet from 4:30-7 p.m. in the Mount Vernon Dining Hall. The menu includes roast turkey, baked steak and all the trimmings.

Admission is $11 for adults and $6 for youth ages 4-12. Children 3 and under eat free. Bring a non-perishable food item for donation to charity and receive $1 off the cost of your meal. No reservations are needed.

Candle lightings will take place Friday and Saturday evenings on the front traffic loop beginning at dusk (weather permitting). A tree lighting will take place each evening at 7:30 p.m. in the WVU Jackson’s Mill Farmstead.

On Saturday, Dec. 4, the young—and the young at heart—are invited to spend time with Father Christmas in the Mountain State Building. There will be music, games, storytelling and more beginning at 6:30p.m. The evening will conclude with caroling to accompany the tree lighting.

The WVU Jackson’s Mill General Store will be open both evenings for holiday shopping.

Breakfast with Santa

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the little ones are invited to have Breakfast with Santa. This popular event runs from 9-11a.m. at Mount Vernon Dining Hall. Admission is $5 for all ages and features a breakfast buffet that appeals to children and adults alike. Don’t forget your camera – there will be plenty of free photo opportunities.
