In an explosive and highly anticipated winter tour, two of rock’s biggest acts are teaming up to bring the MUSIC AS A WEAPON 2011 featuring Disturbed and Korn tour to the WVU Coliseum on Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. The tour will also include performances by Sevendust and In This Moment. Tickets go on sale on Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices, ticketmaster.com and by phone at 304-293-SHOW.

In its fifth year on the road, the Music as a Weapon Tour—launched by Disturbed in 2001—boasts a jam-packed production on an extensive 45-city trek. “Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it’s going to be our best tour yet,” says Disturbed vocalist David Draiman.

Two of the largest-grossing rock bands in recent years, Disturbed and Korn have both forged distinct paths into the mainstream, paving the way for their heavy metal brethren. Exploding onto the scene with its debut album The Sickness, Disturbed found great success with singles “Stupify” and “Down with the Sickness.” Disturbed released its fifth studio album, Asylum, this year—which went on to become the band’s fourth consecutive studio effort to debut at No. 1, a feat achieved by only two other rock groups in history: Metallica and the Dave Matthews Band.

Over the last 16 years, Korn has established itself as one of the biggest bands in the history of hard rock and metal, selling over 30 million albums worldwide. A two-time Grammy Award-winner, the band’s newest release, Korn III: Remember Who You Are, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard charts and is reminiscent of its original lyricism and characteristic melodies, with a brand new raw energy.

Sevendust debuted in 1997 with a self-titled album. The group has since released eight studio albums, many certified Gold. The band has lent a myriad of songs to popular culture, including films Saw II, The Scorpion King and Freddy vs. Jason.

In This Moment’s metalcore melodies—a fusion of heavy metal and hardcore punk—have become a runaway success in a competitive genre full of similar sounds. Vocalist Maria Brink’s haunting voice leads the way for the band’s unique sound, which has truly overcome mediocrity in the metalcore genre. Having performed with the likes of Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Hatebreed and Shadows Fall, In This Moment is well on its way to a long and successful career.

Tickets will go on sale at the Mountainlair and CAC box offices on Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. Ticket prices range from $41 to $47, depending on seat location. Floor tickets are general admission-standing room only. The first 500 floor tickets purchased will be discounted $5.
