Scenes from famous operas will be presented by West Virginia University Opera Theatre during a program titled “Fable, Fact & Fiction,” at the Creative Arts Center, Nov. 10-13.
Robert Thieme, head of the WVU opera program, will direct the performances, to be held in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 10-12, and 3:15 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 13.
The students will perform scenes from: “Cenerentola,” (Cinderella) by Gioachino Rossini; “Cendrillon” (Cinderella) by Jules Massenet; “The Dialogues of the Carmelites” by Francis Poulenc; “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein; “The Inquisitive Women” by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari; “The Ballad of Baby Doe” by Douglas Moore; and “Falstaff” by Giuseppe Verdi.
Students performing include Maureen Seymour, Sarah Plata, Cynthia Ortiz-Bartley, Jarrell Strickland, Nathan Costella, Mike Simpson, Dennis Gallagher, Joshua Stubbs, Natalie Shaffer, Karina Sweeney, Julie Kremm, Samantha DeStefano, Helo�sa Ten�rio, Nat�lia Duarte, Sarah Dungan, MaryJoanna Grisso, Amanda Majocha, Katie Smith, Sarah Nale, Kelsey Pierce and Nicoletta Ciampa.
