The men of West Virginia University’s African-American social service fraternity Iota Phi Theta believe that “beside every great man is a great woman.”

That is why they have dedicated the weekend of Oct. 14-16 Women’s Week. The weekend’s events are sponsored by G!ow Beauty Lounge.

The weekend’s events are as follows:

• Thursday (Oct. 14) – I-Care: Women’s Appreciation Day, 1-4 p.m., Stalnaker Piano Lounge; free manicures and pedicures will be provided by G!ow Beauty Lounge.

• Friday (Oct. 15) – “Optimal Health from the Inside Out” seminar for women, 7-9 p.m., Blackwater room in the Mountainlair

• Saturday (Oct. 16) – Ms. Brown and Gold Pageant, 7-9:30 p.m., Eisland Hall; the pageant puts a stronger emphasis on service, community activism, intellect and individuality as opposed to outward appearance, tickets are $10.

Iota Phi Theta fraternity members abide by the principles of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, fidelity and brotherhood.
