The timeless Western classic Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! is set to take place at the WVU Creative Arts Center this Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices, online at ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 304-293-SHOW or 800-745-3000.

This cheery musical follows the lives of cowboy Curly McLain and farm girl Laurey Williams on the backdrop of the Oklahoma Indian Territory along with the forays of their friends and families—but this is no simple love story. Through twists and turns and betrayals and fears, each love-struck Westerner learns a little more about themselves and each other, leaving audiences with a sense of endearment as they deliver their feelings in classic tunes like “People Will Say We’re In Love” and “Oklahoma.”

This charming Broadway hit has been performed on stage more than 2,000 times (an unset precedent that wasn’t broken for 13 years), but still holds the same magnetic wit and talent as its debut. Oklahoma! broke the mold with its engaging plot when it first came out, and has gone on to win the multiple Theatre World Awards, Tony Awards, Olivier Awards and even a special Pulitzer Prize for its musical score.

Tickets are on sale now at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices. Ticket prices range from $42 to $52, depending on seat location. WVU Students can purchase tickets for $27 with a valid WVU Student I.D. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 304-293-SHOW.
