Eight jazz bands and many student compositions will be showcased at the Jazz Ensembles Concert, Monday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre of the Creative Arts Center at West Virginia University.

The concert will be directed by Paul Scea and Pin Xuen Cheng, and the program will feature “Divisions,” written by student Gregory Thurman; “Aqua de Beber” by Antonio Carlos Jobim; “Tortoise and the Hare” by “Yellowjackets,” and arranged by student Grace Leong; “Song For Brandon,” by student John Posey; “Space Captain” by Joe Cocker, translation by student Lilly Tan; “Cobra” by John Zorn; “Afro Blue” by Mongo Santamaria; “Serrado” by Djavan, arranged by student Diego Lyra; “Puzzle Pieces” by Mike Crotty; and “Phases” and “2nd Line” by student Chris Mickel.
