Brad Gensurowski, a graduate of the WVU College of Creative Arts who is currently head of Entertainment Division Graphics for NBC in Los Angeles, will present a visiting artist lecture at the Creative Arts Center, Wednesday, Oct. 13.

The presentation begins at 3 p.m. in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre and is free and open to the public.

According to Graphic Design Professor Eve Faulkes, Gensurowski graduated from WVU in 1984 with a BFA in Art and worked at CNN in Atlanta before moving to Los Angeles and later going to work for NBC.

“He will be showing the animation, print, video and motion graphics promos for this current season at NBC and talking about the process for producing them,” Faulkes said. “Brad is one of our most successful graduates.”

Gensurowski will also present a workshop for WVU Art and Design students earlier in the afternoon.

“It would be interesting to show and describe how huge network branding campaigns become a reality and why this year’s NBC campaign, “More Colorful,” is different than any other year,” he said.

“I will give a little history on broadcast design and where it really started, and also share a case study from the launch campaign for “UnderCovers,” which recently premiered on NBC, from concept to execution and how somewhere in the middle it went horribly wrong and then was salvaged at the last minute.

“Plus I will give an insider’s point of view of where the future jobs are heading and what skills are needed in entertainment and television design and digital publication.”
