West Virginia University students are invited to learn more about healthy sexual behaviors while eating dinner with a professor in the community medicine department.

Nationally credentialed health education specialist Ruth Kershner will present “Triple S: Sex, Studs and Skanks” on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 6 p.m. in the Mountaineer Room of the Mountainlair.

“This is a great opportunity for students to interact with faculty in an informal environment and learn valuable information from trained professionals,” said Sheila Powell, coordinator of Experience WVU.

Kershner is a professor, registered nurse and certified teacher in school health. She has presented at numerous local, state, national and international conferences about violence in the lives of women and other health-related topics.

She has been recognized as a West Virginia Health Education Teacher of the Year, and has received the West Virginia Carnegie Award, Robert C. Byrd School of Medicine Distinguished Teacher Award, PATCH Health Advocacy Award and others.

The free dinner will consist of parmesan chicken, vegetable lasagna, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans and pie.

The presentation is part of the Experience WVU series, sponsored by Student Affairs’ Sophomore/Junior Year Experience.
