West Virginia University parents will have the chance to get a first-hand look at life as a WVU student during Fall Family Weekend, held Oct. 1-3.

During the weekend, the College of Engineering and Mineral Resources will be hosting two family-friendly events.

On Friday, Oct. 1 there will be a brief Freshman Family Reception at 4:30 p.m. in the Mineral Resources Building Atrium. The reception will feature a talk by Dr. Jack Byrd, professor of industrial and management systems engineering, and light refreshments.

On Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the College will host a picnic for all its students, families, faculty and staff in the ESB atrium.

“This is great opportunity for families to see where students go to class and to have some great free food,” said Ryan Sigler, High School Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator at CEMR.

To help CEMR plan for an accurate number of people, students and families interested in participating in these events should fill out the survey at http://simpleforms.scripts.wvu.edu/sf/FFW2010/.
