WVU Opera Theatre will perform an “Opera Cabaret,” which also features samples from operetta and musical theater, during Opera Scenes at the Creative Arts Center, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

Performances will be held Thursday and Friday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 2, at 3:15 p.m. in the CAC’s Antoinette Falbo Theatre.

According to Director Robert Thieme, audiences will enjoy some famous musical duets and trios, such as the “Flower duet” from “Madame Butterfly” by Giacomo Puccini, the beautiful “Lakm�” duet sung by an Indian princess and her maid, the final love duet from Claudio Monteverdi’s “The Coronation of Poppea,” and two wonderful and somewhat sarcastic trios from Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Mikado.”

There will also be two larger ensembles from Stephen Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music,” and much more.

“These performances promise to be fun-filled evenings of beautiful music and laughter,” Thieme said.

Voice students performing include: Amanda Majocha, Heloise Tenorio, Sarah Nale, Cynthia Ortiz-Bartley, Jarrell Strickland, Julie Kremm, Katie Smith, Sarah Dungan, Dennis Gallagher, Joshua Stubbs, Kelsey Pierce, Natali� Duarte, Nicoletta Ciampa, Nathan Costella, Karina Sweeney, Sarah Plata, Samantha DeStefano, MaryJoanna Grisso, Natalie Shaffer and Mike Simpson.

Accompanists will be Vivi Zheng and Sam Oram.
