To make life easier for students who don’t bring cars to campus, the West Virginia University Department of Transportation and Parking will offer a new bus shuttle service called the “Sunday Shopping Shuttle” this year.

“This Sunday Shuttle provides WVU students and their families an opportunity to access Morgantown goods and services without the need of a car,” said Hugh E. Kierig, director of Transportation and Parking at WVU.

The new route will transport WVU passengers to and from various shopping and entertainment destinations in the Morgantown area and will operate from 2:30 p.m. to midnight every Sunday while classes are in session.

This new service is free for WVU students, faculty, and staff with a WVU ID and offers a great opportunity to get to the store for those important items or to simply get out and enjoy a movie. As a precautionary measure, riders will only be able to board or depart the shuttle at specified stops along the route.

The bus will depart from the Evansdale Residential Complex and proceed downtown to the first stop at Honors Hall at First Street and Grant Avenue. The downtown section of the route includes a stop at the Mountainlair and a stop at the intersection of High and Walnut streets. The shuttle will then continue towards the Morgantown Mall to make stops at Kmart and Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub. Next, the shuttle will make stops within University Town Centre at Giant Eagle, Walmart, Target and Hollywood Theatres. CVS is the final stop along the route before arriving back at the Evansdale Residential Complex.

The Sunday Shopping Shuttle will begin running during Move-In Weekend on Sunday, Aug. 22. The service will operate every Sunday while class is in session and will not operate on University observed breaks.

“The route runs every hour, so passengers can go in, get their shopping done, and be back at the stop before the next bus comes,” said Kierig.

Passengers must have their WVU ID or be accompanied by someone with a WVU ID.
