On Friday, Sept. 10 the West Virginia University Mountaineers will travel south to take on Marshall University’s Thundering Herd, and the Kanawha Valley Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association is hosting “Eerfest” – a pep rally for alumni and friends on the eve of the game.

Eerfest will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9 from 5-9 p.m. in Spyro’s parking lot on Dickinson Street (across from the Vandalia Grille in downtown Charleston).

“Eerfest will be a fun, informal event for alumni, parents, students and families to come together for an evening of fun, good food, and, of course, great Mountaineer camaraderie,” said Steve Hastings of the Kanawha Valley Chapter. “We are very fortunate to have the support of local businesses and the entire alumni community, and we look forward to seeing everyone at Eerfest to celebrate WVU.”

Admission is $5 and entertainment will be provided by High Voltage and others. Raffle prizes and food/beverage vendors will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the event.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Kanawha Valley Chapter’s scholarship fund which provides financial assistance to WVU students from the area.

“This is a wonderful collaboration of alumni and friends in the Capital City,” said Steve Douglas, president and chief executive officer. “There is always a lot of excitement around the Coal Bowl, and Eerfest will be a terrific way to build on that excitement and ignite our team while supporting the Kanawha Valley Chapter’s effort to help WVU students. I know we will have a great turnout for this event.”

Individuals and businesses interested in sponsoring a corporate tent can contact Steve Hastings at 304 881 3540 for more information.
