Children of all ages will have an opportunity to sit in, climb onto and explore firsthand the WVU Healthnet helicopter, fire trucks, a PRT car and several other vehicles at Touch-A-Truck at the WVU Coliseum parking lot Saturday, July 31. Local businesses and service agencies are donating their vehicles as a fundraiser to benefit patients at the West Virginia University Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.

The unique event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a silent hour from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for special needs children. Admission is $5 per person. If rained out, Touch-A-Truck will be held on Sunday, August 1.

The Morgantown Roller Vixens, a roller derby team, will be on hand to do face painting and air brush tattoos for children. In addition to bringing a truck, FedEx will provide coloring books, stickers and tote bags.

All proceeds will go to the WVU Cancer Center Comfort Fund that was established to provide temporary, short-term financial assistance for patients being treated at the Cancer Center until they can be linked with community, state or national resources.

For more information on the event, contact Touch-A-Truck committee members at 304-290-8441 or 304-276-1655.
