A national touring force, Widespread Panic is bringing its critically acclaimed live show to the WVU Coliseum on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Daniel Hutchens will open the show. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 30 at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair Box Office, ticketmaster.com and 304-293-SHOW.

As one of this era’s most extraordinary live bands, Widespread Panic has risen to elite status among American jam bands over the last 25 years. With tightly-wound, memorable songs, drawing from influences in southern rock, blues-rock, progressive rock, funk and hard rock, the band has sold over three million records and have continually remained in Pollstar’s Top 50 Tours of the Year for the past decade. In 2008, Widespread Panic became the first ever recipients of the Road Warrior Award at the 5th Annual Billboard Touring Awards.

Inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2008, the band has continued recording and touring non-stop in support of its ever-growing music catalogue. The band’s latest and 11th studio album, Dirty Side Down, continues to explore the deep-rooted instrumentalism the musicians are known for, and ebbs and flows like something of an emotional travelogue.

“The Widespread Panic experience is not only unique, it is powerful, transcendent. It’s not only the level of intensity of the music, but also the crowd’s reaction to it, that gives one ? ‘a feeling of wonder’,” says the New York Press.

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 30 at 10 a.m. at the Mountainlair Box Office, ticketmaster.com and by phone at 304-293-SHOW and 800-745-3000. Tickets are $38. Tickets may also be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, locally at Giant Eagle on Greenbag Rd. and FYE in the Meadowbrook Mall.
