The WVU Alumni Association will be host to nearly 100 alumni professionals from across the country as part of the 14th Annual Conference for the Council of Alumni Marketing and Membership Professionals. The conference will be held at The Erickson Alumni Center July 13-15.

The annual conference is held at a different location each year and provides professionals the opportunity to share ideas, exchange information and hear about the latest challenges and opportunities within the profession. This year, more than 100 participants from 71 college and university alumni associations will attend the conference.

Kevin Berry, conference chair and associate director and chief operating officer of the WVU Alumni Association, said the planning committee and staff have been working hard to develop a meaningful conference.

“CAMMP is a unique opportunity to bring alumni professionals from various backgrounds together to generate ideas on how we can improve and enhance alumni relations within our own organizations,” Berry said. “We are looking forward to welcoming our conference members to Morgantown and giving them the true Mountaineer experience.”

Chris Martin, vice president of University Relations at WVU, will present “Building affinity with new media” on July 13. Attendees also will participate in numerous sessions on topics including enhancing alumni membership, engaging students in alumni activities and using electronic mediums to communicate to members, among others. Additionally, attendees identified several topics that will be discussed as part of the round table discussion segment of the conference.

Conference participants will have an opportunity to get the flavor of Morgantown as part of the scheduled activities. Attendees will enjoy various restaurants around the area, and attend a night at the historic Warner Theater, which will feature “scary” movies that have ties to West Virginia natives and WVU graduates. The conference will conclude on Thursday evening with an Appalachian dinner at The Erickson Alumni Center featuring a performance by The New Relics.

“We are pleased to be able to welcome CAMMP participants to the campus of West Virginia University,” said Stephen L. Douglas, association president and CEO. “The committee has done a wonderful job identifying topics that are critical to alumni relations. We look forward to showcasing our beautiful alumni center for this event and showing our Mountaineer hospitality.”

More than 45 vendors will also be on hand to provide attendees with information on products and services related to alumni programming.

CAMMP is a non-profit organization aimed at improving the conditions and interests of higher-education alumni associations by providing the networking, technology, and programs necessary to promote alumni administration, alumni association membership and marketing programs.

Past hosts of the annual conference include Penn State University, University of Connecticut and neighboring University of Pittsburgh.
