A day for and about women is planned for Saturday, July 31, at the Women on Wellness retreat in Fairmont. West Virginia University’s National Center of Excellence for Women’s Health sponsors the one-day retreat that starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. It features an interactive program to encourage women to make positive lifestyle changes.

WOW’s message is personal empowerment. Participants will go through a three-part program of various activities designed especially for women: maintaining, moving and nourishing the body. Health screenings are also offered.

Retreat options include yoga, zumba, meditation and massage, nutrition, heart health and wellness in general. Every woman will have the opportunity to develop a journal workbook, as well as a personal wellness plan.

In addition, the WOW program includes a leadership development component intended to help the program become self-sustaining for the community. Almost 800 women across West Virginia have participated in WOW retreats in the last five years.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing for a full day of lifestyle enrichment including a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. Registration is $50, and scholarships are available. For more details, call Betty Critch Parsons at 304-293-2895.

The location of the WOW Retreat is the Heston Farm. For more information about the retreat, see http://www.wowicandoit.com/.
