More than 90 teens from across the country to fight fires at WVU Jackson’s Mill

WHO: Teens attending West Virginia University Fire Service Extension’s Junior Firefighter Camp

WHAT: Campers will learn how to extinguish different types of fires and help save lives from expert fire service instructors. They will be trained in the areas of hoseline operations, vehicle extrication, forcible entry, water rescue and more.

WHEN: June 26 – July 1

WHERE: WVU Jackson’s Mill, Weston, W.Va.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A few camp activities are of particular interest for photographs and video.

• Monday, June 28
o 3 – 5 p.m. —- hoseline operation, search/rescue, forcible entry, use of portable fire extinguishers and ventilation training
• Tuesday, June 29
o 3 – 4:30 p.m. —- Basic first aid and CPR classes
• Wednesday, June 30
o 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. —- auto extrication, confined space entry, rope rescue, and water rescue;
o 7 – 8:30 p.m. —- night operations involving aircraft rescue fire fighting training
• Thursday, July 1
o From 8:30 – 10 a.m. —- Firefighter Olympics, including the bucket brigade, equipment shuttle and hose evolutions
