West Virginia University Police, along with other area emergency agencies, will conduct an evacuation exercise at the end of Friday’s Gold-Blue Spring Football Game at Milan Puskar Stadium.

“The exercise will help us test our current evacuation plan,” said University Police Chief Bob Roberts. “We’ll be able to see if the plans we’ve already made are sufficient and realistic or if changes are needed. Plus it will help us test communications with the public and agencies such as Morgantown police and fire departments and other state and federal agencies.” Those and other agencies will be on site Friday.

The game begins at 7 p.m. with an old-timers game, featuring former Mountaineer players. Once the game ends, fans wanting to participate in the exercise will be asked to move to a specified section of the stadium.

The exercise, which will simulate a live emergency requiring evacuation, will get under way about 10 minutes after the game ends and will last about a half hour, planners said.
