In observance of Kappa Alpha Psi week and the National STD Awareness Month, the fraternity will host a health expo at the Mountainlair, which will include free HIV testing.

Those who attend will be able to watch a PowerPoint presentation and pick up brochures that address STD, HIV, vaccinations and family planning.

The expo will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on April 29. Registration will take place in the WVU Mountainlair’s Cacapon room.

According to Stephone Harris, president of the WVU Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, “Everyone should be informed and aware of the various health issues that confront our society.

According to Charlene Morgan, Mon County Health Department event nurse manger, five registered nurses will be on hand to screen, test and disseminate information pertaining to sexually transmitted diseases, family planning and immunizations for both male and female attendees. Nurses will also answer one-on-one questions and will provide free referrals regarding STDs and family planning.

During the program, individuals may obtain free and confidential oral HIV tests, along with free H1N1 and Hepatitis A and B vaccines.

Free condoms will also be available.

This event is open to the entire student body, staff, faculty and the general public.
