On Saturday, April 24, the West Virginia Campus Compact will join the world in helping their communities.

The compact is hosting a Global Youth Service Day project in Morgantown. Volunteers of all ages are needed.

Participants will be asked collect nonperishable food items and bring them to Dorsey’s Knob Park Pavilion in Morgantown between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pizza will be provided. While at the park, volunteers are also invited to make handmade dog toys.

Food collected will be donated to Rock Forge Neighborhood House, and dog toys will be donated to Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia.

Global Youth Service Day is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day through service.

Established in 1988, the day is the largest service event in the world and is now celebrated in over 100 countries. Throughout the day, children and youth address the world’s most critical issues in partnership with families, schools, community and faith-based organizations, businesses and governments.
