West Virginia University will show the first-ever Central Asian war epic “Nomad: The Warrior” on Thursday, April 8.

The Brown Bag Lunch Film and Discussion Series will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Gluck Theatre in the Mountainlair. The film is being shown on the occasion of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

“Nomad: The Warrior” is the story of 18th-century Kasak military strategist Ablai Khan and his search for the messiah destined to unite and free his people from Mongol rule. Filmed in Kazakhstan, Nomad offers spectacular horse and sword fighting scenes. Italian composer Carlo Siliotto garnered a Golden Globe nomination for his powerful score.

The film will be presented by master’s student Asel Connolly.

The event, sponsored by WVU’s Office of Student Life-Multicultural Programs, is free and open to the public. Pizza will be provided first-come, first-serve.
