“Always on my Mind,” “On the Road Again,” “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” “Whiskey River” – the list is endless. Willie Nelson, the voice of American music, has a discography of hits that transcends generations, and now he’s coming to Morgantown to perform in the intimate atmosphere of the WVU Creative Arts Center. Willie Nelson and Family will take the CAC stage at 8:30 p.m. on April 30. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, April 6 at 9 a.m. at the Mountainlair Box Office, ticketmaster.com and at 304-293-SHOW.

Ten-time Grammy award-winner Willie Nelson began his career by writing hit songs such as Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” Faron Young’s “Hello Walls” and Billy Walker’s “Funny How Time Slips Away.” During the 1970s, he became a staple in country music’s outlaw movement and went on to release over 50 original albums and compilations. Nelson has had astounding chart success with 31 albums appearing on the Billboard 200 and more than 40 records on Billboard’s Country Albums chart.

An honored recipient of the Grammys’ legendary Lifetime Achievement Award, Nelson has also won a total of five Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, seven American Music Awards and nine Country Music Association (CMA) awards. These awards include numerous nods for Best Single and Album, Best Country Song, Best Male Country Vocal Performance, Favorite Male Artist, and a win from both the CMA and ACM for Entertainer of the Year.

Over the course of his career, Nelson has also collaborated with a number of recording stars, including his famous cover of “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” with Waylon Jennings and “Beer for my Horses” with Toby Keith. Nelson’s latest album, Country Music, is produced by the legendary T-Bone Burnett and is scheduled for release in April.
