For only the second time in school history, the West Virginia University men’s basketball team is headed to the NCAA Final Four, heading to Indianapolis to take on the Duke Blue Devils in the national semifinals. Alumni and fans traveling to the game will have an opportunity to participate in numerous activities hosted by the NCAA and the WVU Alumni Association.

“The NCAA tournament will truly be the ultimate fan experience,” says Stephen Douglas, president and CEO, WVU Alumni Association. “In addition to the wonderful activities coordinated by the NCAA Tournament and its sponsors, we have several fan activities planned for Mountaineers who will be in Indianapolis cheering the men’s basketball team to victory. Alumni and friends will want to be sure to take in as many of these fantastic events available throughout the weekend as they can.”

Mountaineers can take in the team practice on Friday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium. The men’s team will have its final practice before taking on Duke on Saturday. The practice is open to the public.

On Saturday, April 3, WVU and the WVU Alumni Association will host the Mountaineer Connection from noon to 4 p.m. at Scotty’s Brewhouse Downtown (1Virginia Ave.) – the official gathering place for Mountaineer fans during Final Four weekend.

The event will feature appearances by the WVU Pep Band (3 p.m.), Mountaineer Mascot, cheerleaders and WVU celebrities. In addition, fans can enjoy video highlights and game footage on Scotty’s flat screen TVs, Lil’ Mountaineers Corner, tailgate games, cheer school, WVU traditions challenge, Mountaineer giveaways, and food/drink from Scotty’s extensive menu. A portion of the Mountaineer Connection is being underwritten by Chesapeake Energy.

WVU alumni and fans will reunite one last time on Monday, April 5, at Scotty’s Brewhouse Downtown for a Mountaineer Meet and Greet before heading to the championship game (tipoff approx. 9:21 p.m.). The meet and greet, hosted by the WVU Alumni Association, will be an opportunity to bring fans together to enjoy Mountaineer camaraderie, music, basketball replays and highlights on Scotty’s flat screen TVs and food/ drinks for Scotty’s extensive menu.

In addition to the events hosted by the Alumni Association, fans can also enjoy the NCAA Hall of Champions, concerts, the popular Bracket Town and the Final Four Dribble, among other events.
