Frank X. Walker, founding member of the Affrilachian Poets, will come to West Virginia University on Monday, March 22.

The multidisciplinary artist will be performing at 7 p.m. in the Rhododendron room of the Mountainlair. Prolific writer, columnist and recipient of numerous literature and poetry awards, Walker currently serves as associate professor in the Department of English at the University of Kentucky.

He is the editor and publisher of “PLUCK! The Journal of Affrilachian Art & Culture.” Walker has appeared on television in Public Broadcasting Service’s GED Connection Series, “Writing: Getting Ideas on Paper,” “In Performance At the Governor’s Mansion” and in “Living the Story: The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky.”

He has also been featured on National Public Radio’s “I Believe.” This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The program is co-sponsored by WVU’s Center for Black Culture and Research and the Appalachian Culture Committee-Office of Multicultural Programs.
