Student Government Association members will be collecting donations for the Dollars for Disaster Haiti relief effort at all gates prior to the West Virginia University men’s basketball game against Pitt Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Volunteers will be outfitted in “Help Haiti” t-shirts and stationed at each entry gate inside the Coliseum, beginning two hours prior to tip-off. Collections will be taken until the start of the game.

Mountaineers are encouraged to give what they can to help those in need after the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti last month.

All proceeds will go to Dollars for Disaster, benefitting the American Red Cross and Yele Haiti.

In addition, the WVU College of Creative Arts is hosting a fundraiser benefiting the Dollars for Disaster Haiti relief effort on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m.

ArtsGive: Fundraiser for Haiti Relief will take place in the Gladys Davis Theatre at the CAC, and will feature a great variety of musical, theatrical, and dance performances, art displays, and stand-up comedy routines.

This is an opportunity for Mountaineers to send valentines of love and money to the people of Haiti.

“One of the important things that the arts are able to give is a sense of celebration, respect and healing for the diversity of lives, visions and voices on this planet,” said Laura Hitt,
associate professor of voice and speech.

Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going to relief agencies working in Haiti.
