Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel and bluegrass band The DePue Brothers have been added to the Jan. 17 Mountain Stage with Larry Groce lineup. The show begins at 7 p.m. at the WVU Creative Arts Center. Also scheduled to perform are Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing!, Kaukonen & Bromberg, Vetiver, and Among the Oak and Ash. Tickets are available now.

Two time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel is best known for his complex fingerpicking style, his energetic performances and his percussive effects on the guitar. The legendary Australian guitarist has a professional career that spans almost five decades, 16 records and numerous collaborative efforts. Inspired by guitar legend Chet Atkins, Emmanuel began playing as a child and has since gone on to play with Atkins himself, Eric Clapton, Les Paul, John Denver and many more. In 2009, he received the Guitar Legend Award from Guitar Player magazine.

Brothers Wallace, Alex, Jason and Zach DePue formed The DePue Brothers Band in 1985. Critics rave about the siblings, praising their “incredible energy and virtuosity.” Hal Real, founder of World Caf Live, says “This band of brothers, and symphonic friends, gives real meaning to the phrase ‘progressive bluegrass,’ bending genres while delivering a powerful mix of classical chops, blazing bluegrass and rock and roll.” The DePue Brothers have recently released their new record, Weapons of Grass Construction.
