For the second year in a row, the West Virginia University Children’s Hospital radiothon raised more than $120,000.

The Q for Kids Radiothon, which was hosted by WVU Children’s Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network and three area radio stations was held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19 and from 6 a.m. to noon Nov. 20.

The radio stations – WVAQ, WBTQ and WQZK – broadcasted live from Panera Bread in Morgantown each day. By the end of the last broadcast, a total of $120,323.86 had been raised.

“We are very thankful that so many people found it in their hearts to support WVU Children’s Hospital this year. This money will help us provide high-quality medical care to children from all over the state and region,” Cheryl Jones, director of WVU Children’s Hospital, said.

The radiothon is usually broadcast from the cafeteria at Ruby Memorial Hospital but was moved this year out of concerns about the H1N1 influenza virus.

WVU Children’s Hospital provides maternal, infant and pediatric care for West Virginia and the surrounding region, giving care to high-risk mothers, premature infants and children with life-threatening conditions through adolescence to adulthood.
