Mountaineer Fans,

In light of UConn’s tragic loss of Jasper Howard, starting cornerback for the Huskies, I am asking that all of you show your Mountaineer pride this weekend by treating the Huskies and their fans with respect and courtesy. As Mountaineers, we need to show our support for the entire Connecticut football team and community by graciously welcoming them to WVU.

The Mountaineers will be wearing “No. 6” on their helmets during Saturday’s game, and there will be a moment of silence before the game in memory of Jasper.

Let’s follow Coach Stewart and the Mountaineers’ example by applauding and cheering for the Huskies as they enter the field, and not booing them during the game. I encourage you to applaud the Huskies, in defeat or victory, as they courageously return to the playing field for the first time without Jasper.

This weekend I encourage you to cheer loudly for our Mountaineers and not against our opponent from the beginning to the end of the game!
