The West Virginia University opera program will presentOpera ScenesThursday through Saturday (Oct. 9-11) at the Creative Arts Center .

Mozart to Menottiwill include works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Arthur Sullivan, Bedich Smetana and Gian Carlo Menotti. The production will be under the direction of Robert Thieme , head of the opera program in the College of Creative Arts .

Performances on Thursday and Friday are at 7:30 p.m., and the Saturday matinee begins at 3:15 p.m. All performances will be held in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre at the CAC .

Mozart to Menottiwill feature scenes fromThe Magic Flute(1791) andLe Nozze di Figaro(1786) by Mozart;The Bartered Bride(1870) by Smetana;The Mikado(1885) by Gilbert and Sullivan; andThe Telephone(1947) by Menotti.

WVU voice students who will perform the major roles include Jennifer Vanella, Kelsey Pierce, Jessica Cole, Carol Womack, Karey Todd, Rebekah Prichard, Marissa Bloom, Daniel Ferguson, Jeanna Nestor, Maria Mahe, Jarrell Strickland, Dorothy Smith, Amanda Miller, Georgina Gatto, Sarah Grisso, Justin Barclay, Michael Talerico, Daniel Ferguson, MaryJoanna Grisso, Min Sue Kim and Kelsey Pierce.
