The South Winds Flute Choir of Pittsburgh will join the West Virginia University Flute Choir for its spring concert Sunday, April 6.

The free public concert will begin at 5 p.m. in the Bloch Learning and Performance Hall (Room 200A) of the Creative Arts Center on WVU s Evansdale Campus.

The concert will feature small ensembles, allowing students to be spotlighted in a chamber music setting, said music professor Francesca Arnone, who directs the WVU Flute Choir. There will also be several pieces for large choir.

The last work on the program will feature WVU alumna Mary McBride and her ensemble, the South Winds Flute Choir,Arnone said.This group is comprised of middle and high school students from the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. The group performs annually at the Phipps Conservatory.

McBrides son, Colin, a music student at WVU studying percussion, will also perform during the concert.

The WVU Flute Choir consists of about 15 flute majors who play various combinations of C flute, piccolo and alto and bass flute.
