The work of J.R.R. Tolkien, who has fascinated generations of readers withThe HobbitandThe Lord of the Rings,is the focus of a West Virginia University Press publication thats drawing international attention.

Tolkien Studies, a unique scholarly journal, received a positive review in the latest edition of Mallorn: The Journal of the Tolkien Society.

Mallorn, a British publication, is one of the oldest journals dedicated to the works of Tolkien and has been distributed all over the world to members of the Tolkien Society since 1970.

In his review, Tolkien scholar David Doughan praises the detailed studies by respected scholars.

Those seriously concerned with Tolkien will definitely want (Vol. IV), as well as the earlier issues,he advises readers.

In addition to penning fantasy classics, Tolkien was also an Oxford scholar deeply versed in Medieval literature. Articles in Tolkien Studies focus on his narratives and academic work, along with recent movie adaptations and international translations of his writings.

Edited by Douglas Anderson, Michael Drout and Verlyn Flieger, the fourth volume of Tolkien Studies features the first accessible publication ofThe Name �€~Nodens,by Tolkien.

Contributors are from universities around the world, including the Universidad de Extremedora (Spain), Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (Germany), Cardiff University (Wales), University of Northern British Columbia (Canada), University of Huelva (Spain), University of Szeged (Hungary) and University of Pretoria (South Africa).

WVU Press began publishing Tolkien Studies in 2004, and previous volumes remain available.
