The West Virginia University Foundations Band Aid Drive has surpassed $200,000, officials announced Friday (Aug. 18).

The goal of the drive is to raise $270,000 for 400 new uniforms for the WVU Marching Band by Sept.1.

The new uniforms will be debuted Sept. 2 at the WVU -Marshall football game and dedicated on Homecoming, Oct. 14, at the WVU -Syracuse football game.

All donors to Band Aid receive anI support the Pride of West Virginiacar decal and donors of $100 or more receive a special-edition band CD.

In addition, Band Members Club donors ($500-$999) will have their names put into a new uniform and receive a band hat from a retired uniform. Drum Major Club donors ($1,000-$4,999) receive Band Members Club benefits, plus an invitation to the KeyNote Concert in Morgantown and recognition as a WVU Foundation Partner. Band Directors Club donors ($5,000 or more) receive Drum Major Club benefits and a framed”Flying WV”from a retired uniform.

The breakdown of uniform costs is: new uniform, $500; coat and cape, $340; pants, $105; helmet and plume, $60; and raincoats, $35.

The WVU Marching Band will perform on Monday, Aug. 28, at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston. ThisBand Festevent will be hosted by the WVU Alumni Association just five days before the Mountaineers open the football season against Marshall.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. with games and special WVU giveaways starting at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, although a $5 adult contribution to the Band Aid Drive is encouraged.

Contributions to the Band Aid Drive can be made by Sept. 1 at any United Bank or sent to Band Aid Drive, c/o WVU Foundation, P.O. Box 1650, Morgantown, WV 26507 -1650. Checks should be made out to WVUF Band Aid Drive.
