West Virginia Universitys annual welcome-back-to-campus celebration is set to get under way at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21. FallFests signature concert atop the Mountainlair Plaza will include sets from Staind, Motion City Soundtrack, The Roots and The Wreckers.

Staind, one of the biggest-selling rock groups in America today, is known for their mega-hitsIts Been a While,Fade,For YouandEpiphany.Staind’s dominance of the music business has not been limited to the Billboard Top 200 (Break the Cycle’and’14 Shades of Grey’were both No. 1 for several weeks). The band has done well on the radioreaching the top spots on alternative, rock and Top 40 charts. Their success can be attributed to their deep lyrics and dark, yet melodic, riffs that carry a heavy, intense tone that’s almost even soulful at times.

Motion City Soundtrack has been called thecoolest power pop band on earth.The indie rock quintet has also been compared to Blink 182 and Green Day in their early days. Fresh off their fourth Warped Tourthis year a main stage actMotion City Soundtrack is sure to wow FallFest fans with songs from their sophomore releaseCommit This to Memory.

Philadelphia-based rappers The Roots are known for their innovative album concepts and their live shows, which Billboard magazine callsamong the best in the business.They have become popularly regarded as one of today’s most innovative, adventurous and influential bands. Known for their Grammy-winning singleYou Got Meand their albumsThings Fall ApartandPhrenology,which Rolling Stone credited for havingcreated a blueprint for 21st century pop music,The RootsFallFest performance will precede the August 29th release of their much-anticipated albumGame Theorythe groups debut on DefJam Records.

Country newcomers The Wreckersthe new duo comprised of Grammy-winning pop star Michelle Branch and singer/songwriter Jessica Harpwill open the plaza show. For those who are unfamiliar, these are the ladies behindGood Kindon the popular primetime soapOne Tree Hill.The Wreckers sound can be described as modern country music with a rock and roll touch. Their latest single,Leave the Piecesis currently enjoying success at No. 3 on Billboards Hot Country Songs chart.

Also on tap for FallFest 2006 is a dance party featuring New Jersy rapper Redman and Boot Camp Clik members Buckshot, SmifnWesson, Heltah Skeltah Sean Price. Redmans style blends reggae and funk influences with topical commentary. Boot Camp Clik is a hip hop collaboration featuring similar-minded underground hardcore rappers concerned about keeping their music real and on a street level. The dance party begins at 10 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

Mountainlair Hatfields will be home to a special Comedy Caravan featuring Lord Carrett and Jennifer Dziura in two shows, one at 8 p.m. and another at 10 p.m. Carrett has headlined at San Franciscos The Green Room, Just For Laughs, Hilarities Comedy Theatre and The Comedy Caf, just to name a few.

Dziura is a New York-basedcomedian. She co-hosts theWilliamsburg Spelling Beeon TimeOut On-Demand cable, which has been featured in the New York Times and filmed for Good Morning America.

The Mountainlair Gluck Theatre will be paying homage to Jennifer Aniston with a film festival showingThe Breakupat 6:30 p.m.,Rumor Has Itat 8:30 p.m. andDerailedat 10:30 p.m.

FallFest is free to WVU students with valid WVU student IDs. Gates will open at 6 p.m. A special tent will be set up in front of the Mountainlair beginning at 6 p.m. to assist WVU students with ID questions.

Legal beverages will be available to students 21 and older. Alternative beverages and food will also be available. The PRT will run until 1 a.m. No cameras, video cameras, audio recording, coolers or hard containers, bottles or cans, laser pointers, or pets are permitted.
