With another exciting season of Mountaineer football around the corner, West Virginia University students want to know the game plan for ticketing and tailgating so heres the play-by-play:

WVU s schedule includes seven home games, including the highly anticipated home opener with Marshall, an ESPN -televised matchup with Maryland and a Homecoming game against Syracuse.

* STUDENT TICKETING

  • Registration for each home game begins six days prior to kickoff at midnight and remains open for two days. Note the following schedule:

  • To request a ticket, log ontowww.wvugame.comand click on theget ticketslink. Students will need their MIX (Mountaineer Information Xpress) ID and personal password (the default password is the last six digits of their WVU ID number).
  • Select a ticket in one of the following areas: Maniacs (for fee-paying eligible Maniac members in good standing), Senior Spirit Section 121 (for students who have achieved senior status of 89 plus credit hours or who are graduate or professional students), or Upper Deck or Lower Deck (open to all students).
  • Sitting in the Senior Spirit Section 121 is a privilege. Seniors and graduate/professional students are encouraged to select this option.
  • Students should make arrangements to sit with their friends before they register for tickets. By requesting the same section, they are not guaranteed seats in the same area, but it increases their chances.
  • Following the two-day registration period, students will receive an e-mail confirmation and instructions on how to claim and print their tickets.
  • After a two-day claim period, students who havent requested tickets may do so during the print-on-demand period that runs up until kickoff on game day.
  • Students may also purchase one guest ticket, if available, during the print-on-demand period. Prices will range from $35-$40 depending on the game, during the print-on-demand period.
  • Registration is not done on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, students must make their requests during the initial two-day registration period if they want to be considered if the system goes into lottery distributionwhen demand exceeds supply.
  • Off-campus students who have not paid their optional fee package by noon Friday, Aug. 25, will not be eligible to request tickets. Fees may be paid at the student accounts office in Stewart Hall.

* SENIORITY , LOYALTY POINTS *

  • There will be 12,500 student tickets allotted for each home game. If there are more requests than tickets available, tickets will be distributed through a lottery system.
  • The lottery system is based on a combination of seniority and loyalty points. Seniority points are awarded as follows: Seniors and graduate students will receive five points; juniors, three; sophomores, two; and freshmen, one.
  • Loyalty points will continue to be earned by registering and attending games. The more points students have, the greater chance they have of receiving a ticket.
  • In addition, 20 percent of accumulated loyalty points from the previous football season will be carried over to the new season.
  • NOTE : Students who claim a ticket, but later decide not to attend, must cancel their ticket online by noon the day before kickoff to avoid losing loyalty points.

* HELP DESK *

A help desk will be available to answer studentsonline ticketing questions during the week of the Marshall game and throughout the semester. The hours will be as follows:

  • Saturday, Aug. 2610 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 27noon-midnight
  • Monday, Aug. 28Thursday, Aug 318:15 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 18:15 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 3noon-6 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 4 (Labor Day)8:15 a.m.-5 p.m.During the rest of the football season, the help desk will be open at noon on Sundays.

* GAMEDAY REMINDERS *

  • Gates open 1hours before the game. Students are encouraged to arrive early and watch the award-winningPride of West VirginiaMountaineer Marching Band pregame show.
  • NOTE : Both a valid WVU ID card and a ticket are required for entry. Students should have these items ready before they get to the gates to gain admission. This will enable them to get in their seats more quickly.
  • Print tickets with black ink. Bring the entire ticket to the game. Scanners will not be able to read tickets with only partial names and bar codes. Students who alter tickets may face disciplinary action, including loss of athletic privileges.
  • Wristbands will be distributed to students as their tickets are scanned. These are required for students sitting in the lower deck and senior spirit section 121.
  • Enter student gates on the east side of stadium; left-hand gates for section 121 and lower deck; right-hand gates for upper deck and Maniacs. There will be signs posted.
  • Once inside the stadium, fans should not block aisles, entranceways and railing areas. Students who dont follow the rules will be asked to move or leave the game.
  • Tailgate with friends at theNew Piton Oakland Street near the Ronald McDonald House, but try to get to the student gates early to avoid long lines. Free food and soft drinks are available at the New Pit. A limited number of vehicle permits may be purchased from Student Organizations Services.
  • Remember to celebrate responsibly. (Illegal, unlawful or destructive behavior will result in disciplinary action, including loss of athletic privileges and possible expulsion).

* STUDENT TAILGATING *

  • The New Pit tailgating area opens three hours before kickoff and closes at kickoff (located on Oakland Street near the Ronald McDonald House).
  • Free hotdogs and soft drinks are available until 30 minutes before kickoff.
  • Only charcoal grills are permitted; no other types of fires allowed.
  • WVU ID required for entrance; WVU students may bring guests age 18 and older. Guests should bring photo ID.
  • Limited parking permits (50) are available to students with valid Mountaineer ID card on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Student Organization Services office in the Mountainlair for $7 beginning at 9 a.m. the Monday before each home game. No parking permits will be sold after 2 p.m. Friday.
  • Vehicles should enter the lot before kickoff; vehicles that leave may not re-enter.
  • Permit holders of legal age, with valid drivers license and valid ID card, may bring one keg of beer (or six cases) into the lot per tailgate area; cans of beer (no glass bottles) are permitted.
  • A designated driver should be selected for each vehicle.
  • One six-pack of beer per person of legal age (walk-ins) is allowed; plastic cups and recycling bins will be provided; alcoholic beverages other than beer are not permitted.
  • Beer sales from kegs, etc. are prohibited; distribution of beer in plastic cups to underage students is not permitted; those in violation will have Pit and athletic privileges revoked and be subject to disciplinary action.
  • Instruments and activities that encourage excessive consumption of beer (such as beer bongs or keg stands) are not permitted.
  • ID checks will be performed throughout the day by police.
  • Throwing of Frisbees, footballs, etc. is not permitted for safety reasons.
  • No pets are permitted.
  • Limited accessible parking is available.
  • Walk-ins are welcome.

* MOUNTAINEER PARENT PARKING *

  • The Mountaineer Parents Club will be offered parking on football game days in one sectioned-off side of the Pit.
  • 40 parking spots will be available.
  • The lot is for parking only.
  • Parking lot opens three hours before game time.
  • Security guards will be on hand to monitor the lot.
  • Permits will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Parents can call 304-293-4397 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for information about parking permits.
  • Season permits are $49; individual game permits are $7.
  • Payment should be by check; cash and credit cards will not be accepted.
  • All permits must be paid for in advance.
  • Proceeds benefit student organizations.
