West Virginia high school students are invited to apply for the ninth annual West Virginia WritersWorkshop, which will be July 21-24 at West Virginia University.

Twelve West Virginia high school students will be offered full scholarships, which include tuition and lodging. However, those students not selected for the scholarships may attend for a reduced fee of $180 (tuition); three-day lodging totals $64.74.

Students who attend the conference will work for three days with graduate students in WVU s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program and attend readings and craft classes. They will participate in one-on-one tutorials as well.

Students interested in applying should send a typed writing sample (three to five poems or up to 15 pages of prose) along with their name, address, home phone number, e-mail address, and the grade and high school they will be attending in the fall to Andrea Soccorsi, WVU Department of English, P.O. Box 6296, Morgantown, WV 26506 -6296. Applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, May 31.
