A recent release by Dr. John Beall, WVU s composer-in-residence and professor of music, is available to download from the iTunes website. His CD,Wondrous Love: Appalachian Chamber Music,is the first release from the WVU Press to join the millions of tracks available to download on Apples online music forum.

Dr. Beall blends traditional folk elements and classical chamber music to evoke both Appalachian landscape and lifestyle. Hymns, folksongs, gospel tunes and fiddle melodies comprise over two hours of listening pleasure on this double CD and booklet sets.

Penn States professor of piano, Steven H. Smith, provides concert notes and critical analyses of each track in the booklet accompanying the standard release.

Born in Belton, Texas, in 1942, Beall earned his graduate degree in composition at Baylor University. Following completion of doctoral studies in 1973 at the Eastman School of Music, he joined the faculty at WVU as a composer-in-residence and professor of music. He has earned several honors throughout his celebrated career including two commissions from the National Endowment for the Arts. Performances of his work have appeared throughout the nation.
