“Outrageous Women of Civil War Times”by Mary Rodd Furbee, WVU P .I. Reed School of Journalism clinical instructor, has been published by John Wiley&Sons of New York and is now available through major booksellers.

The illustrated paperback, geared especially for readers ages 8-14, is Furbee’s third in Wiley’s acclaimed”Outrageous Women”series. Among the dozen women featured are Martinsburg Confederate spy Belle Boyd, battlefield nurse Clara Barton, Underground Railroad conductor Harriet Tubman, author Louisa May Alcott and early women’s rights leader Susan B. Anthony.

This book marks the Morgantown author’s eighth book featuring remarkable women of American history. Several of her titles feature state women, including”Anne Bailey: Frontier Scout,”“Shawnee Captive: The Story of Mary Draper Ingles”and”Outrageous Women of Colonial America.”
