More than 140 professional women golferssome from as far away as France, Australia and Japanwill meet at the Pines Country Club August 7-13, for the $75,000 Betty Puskar Futures Golf Classic.

The Morgantown Classicnow in its ninth yearis the primary fundraiser for the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center at West Virginia University. The Morgantown tournament offers the largest purse on the Futures Tour, the primary developmental tour for women’s professional golf. More than 160 Futures alumnae currently play in the LPGA .

The Golf Classic will cap an action-packed week of events beginning with a fashion show on Monday, August 7, at 6 p.m. at Lakeview Resort.

Most of the other events will take place at the Pines Country Club, including two pro/ams, Wednesday, August 9, and Thursday, August 10, at 1 p.m., and a junior pro-am, August 10, at 10 a.m., all sponsored by One Valley Bank.

On Friday, August 11, Huntington Banks will sponsor”A Celebration of Life”at the Clarion Hotel Morgan at 7 p.m., featuring live music provided by’Spuds.’Saturday, August 12, is Pepsi-Cola Day at the Pines. Theevent is designed for the whole family and will include a putting green with prizes, free food and giveaways and samples of new beverages.
