Local high school and WVU students team up for national TRIO Day of Service

WHAT: Upward Bound students from Clay-Battelle, Grafton and Preston County high schools and WVU students in McNair Scholars and Student Support Services programs will volunteer in the national TRIO Day of Service.

WHEN: Saturday (Feb. 25) 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: Three locations

·      Ronald McDonald House, a baking activity in the kitchen. Landon Southerly, on-site contact 304.290.6393

·      Ruby Memorial Hospital, 6th floor, craft projects with pediatric patients, on-site contact Frances Clark 304.276.3712

·      Empty Bowls, preparing and serving food, Mylan Park Community Center, on-site contact Cynthia Drumm 304.376.7437.

WHO: The volunteers are students and staff from the TRIO programs (Upward Bound, McNair Scholars and Student Support Services). These federally funded programs help students enroll and graduate from college. Service activities help students overcome academic, social and cultural barriers to higher education while giving back to the communities that support them.
