MEDIA ADVISORY: WVU Injury Control Research Center to assemble naloxone rescue kits 

WHAT: West Virginia is slated to distribute more than 8,000 overdose rescue kits, a project that will be implemented by the West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center. 

WHEN: 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 

WHERE: WVU Injury Control Research Center, 3606 Collins Ferry Road, Suite 201, Morgantown, WV 26505 

WHO: The event will involve WVU ICRC staff, undergraduate public health student volunteers and volunteers from WVU Collegiate Recovery. 

West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center will be assembling more than 8,000 naloxone rescue kits to distribute statewide to non-EMS first responders and take-home naloxone programs. This is the first statewide naloxone distribution project aimed at preventing opioid overdose deaths and increasing access to naloxone. This naloxone distribution project is a partnership with DHHR’s Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities, Bureau for Public Health and the WVU ICRC.
